Jim Bloedau, President
HIMSS Experience and Interests
Since attending the 1991 national HIMSS conference in San Francisco, Jim has served on national HIT workgroups including: the early days of ANSI Standards and Administrative Simplification that led to HIPAA legislation and most recently HIMSS mHealth Roadmap Task Force, New Care Models and ROI/Payment efforts. As a chapter board member he chairs the Innovation Committee and designed their record setting Meetup, CPHIMs Scholarship, CPHIMS Certification and Innovation Conference programs and is active with the nomination and education committees. “I started working in the healthcare setting at an early age and have never lost my passion for it nor my curiosity for how information technology can optimize clinical and patient performance – it’s a great bug to catch!”
Strong instincts and insights gained from broad clinical, academic, research and entrepreneurial leadership spanning clinical and consumer health startups, leading innovation medical centers and rural health. Clinical innovation experience includes the first digital online patient monitoring system, numerous digital diagnostic devices, the first IP-based statewide HIE, departmental software implementations and early SAS systems for care and practice management, e-prescribing, physician training and patient education. Author of over forty-five healthcare IT market briefs and business plans; provided expertise to over seventeen entrepreneurial efforts; and instrumental in securing funding, strategic relationships, M&A diligence, and leading sales and demand generation teams. In addition to HIMSS, nonprofit commitments have included board positions for ‘digital divide” nonprofits and others that include Heart, Lung and Cancer associations. He currently is an invited advisor to UCSF Entrepreneurial Center, Rock Health and Startup Health entrepreneurs.
Bachelor’s in Medical Technology with an Epidemiology emphasis; National Board Registered Respiratory Therapist; California Community College Instructor Credential for Healthcare; Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS); and post graduate work in strategic planning, marketing, telemedicine, and editing-copyright law from UC Berkeley.
Stevie Ryan, Immediate Past President

HIMSS Experience and Interests
Stevie has been an active member of HIMSS since 2010, and will be heading up the Membership Committee, and co-chairing the Volunteer Committee. Before joining the NorCal HIMSS Board, Stevie was a member of the Southern California Chapter, volunteering on the Communications Committee and logistics teams. Her board interests and goals include growing the Chapter’s Membership and increasing the outreach of health information technology via social media channels.
Stevie currently works as a Client Services Executive for Modis Health IT partnering with hospitals and healthcare organizations along the West Coast providing resources within the healthcare IT space. Stevie’s combined educational background and management experience has brought a unique perspective to her clients in their efforts to build high performance teams to achieve the standards for technology adoption and Meaningful use.
Stevie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Child/Adolescent Psychology as well as her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.
Nick Steinbach, President-Elect, Sponsorship Chair

Nick is a seasoned IT solutions specialist with over 10 years of experience selling, managing and delivering complex projects. Expertise includes staff augmentation, consulting and turnkey solution sets within the Healthcare Industry. Experience with large scale enterprise initiatives that require coordination with stakeholders from the Clinical, Business and IT groups. Nick has been on the board for the past 2 years as the Sponsorship Chair and CxO Event Co-Chair.
Jenni Bendfeldt, Secretary, Membership Committee Chair
HIMSS Experience and Interests
Jenni has been an active member of the NorCal HIMSS chapter for three years. In 2014, she served as a reviewer for population health proposals and was a coach and moderator for the presentation titled, “Data-Enabled Strategic Resource Allocation in ACOs” at the 2015 annual conference in addition to volunteering at local events. Jenni currently serves as the co-chair of the membership committee where she strives to encourage membership and involvement through education and professional opportunities.
Jenni works as a national consultant in ECG’s Healthcare IT practice. With 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, she helps clients address strategic, operational, technical, and vendor management issues associated with the implementation, utilization, and optimization of technology. Her expertise includes project and IT department management, EHR and clinical quality incentive programs, IT-driven improvements in clinic operations, the revenue cycle, and hospital system alignment. Prior to joining ECG, Jenni began her career as a Nutritionist at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she served as a clinical champion for several Siemens upgrades. She then embarked on a healthcare administration internship and working as an EHR analyst at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Jenni has a master of healthcare administration degree from the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University and a bachelor of science degree in nutrition science/dietetics, with a minor in psychology, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Michelle Heimann, Logistics Chair
Michelle Heimann has been part of the NorCal HIMSS Board for 5 years. She started off as a volunteer, helping out with registration at all of the events. She is now serving her third year as Logistics Chair, and is responsible for event spaces, catering, and registration. Michelle has worked in the Information Technology space, and now is a Healthcare Informatics Specialist after coming from a background in teaching. Michelle has a BA in Liberal Studies and a Masters in Education.
Jason Johnson, CAHIMS, CISSP, Programs Chair
Manager, Information Security & Customer Experience, Marin General Hospital

After being involved as a member with HIMSS for a couple of years and attending the national conferences, Jason joined the Board of Directors as a volunteer in 2015. Now, as Programs Chair, his drive is to bring even more energy to the already innovative events held by the Chapter every year.
After running his own firm for a few years, Jason gravitated towards healthcare. Through the years, he has overseen several specialized areas including Citrix implementations, Help Desk management, software rollouts, data center migrations, network upgrades, and ambulatory clinic overhauls. He has also partnered with large service vendors on hospital-wide initiatives.
Most recently, in his role as Manager of Information Security & Customer Experience at Marin General Hospital, Jason is responsible for information security, hospital communications infrastructure, and user experience projects. On the user experience front, he works directly with inpatient and ambulatory providers to identify opportunities to make technology systems more streamlined and easier to use. Jason's passion is to create an exceptional healing environment in which technology complements patient care.
Jason holds an B.S. in Business Administration, a CAHIMS certification, CISSP certification, several Microsoft certifications and a BLS certification.
Santosh Mohan is a health care IT industry analyst researching successful processes, management practices, and emerging solutions that enable the role of technology in health system transformation. Most recently, he was a management fellow and consultant in the Office of the CIO at Stanford Health Care. Mr. Mohan currently leads HIMSS' national Innovation committee as its Chairperson.
Prior to joining Stanford, Mr. Mohan served as a Director and Senior Consultant at The Advisory Board Company, providing strategic advice and operational insights to health system CIOs and executives on a variety of topics including patient engagement, IT performance management, and new IT capabilities for health care reform. Prior to the Advisory Board, he was at Cerner Corporation, building technology and execution into business and clinical strategies to enhance care workflows and improve patient outcomes. Mr. Mohan's other provider-focused consulting engagements focused on ACO strategy and mHealth/digital health.
Santosh earned his master’s degree in business management and clinical informatics from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he received the leadership excellence award and was also named a Fuqua Scholar. He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and bioinformatics from VIT University (India).

Nik Tehrani, Education Chair
HIMSS Experience and Interests
Dr. Nik Tehrani is a member of HIMSS at both local and national level. As an active member of Northern California HIMSS Chapter, he serves as the Co-Chair of Education Committee as well as a member of the Innovation and Technology committee. His interests are developing marketing tools for patient engagement, digital health, and enhancing patient experience.
Dr. Nik Tehrani is Vice President of Business Development of DynoSense Corp., and has over 25 years’ experience in business management, marketing, and supply chain development and implementation. He has also over 15 years of teaching experience as a lecturer and professor at various prestigious universities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to DynoSense, he was President and CEO of Savitron, Inc., an Electronic Manufacturing Solution Company; Global Director of Program Management at Sanmina-SCI, a leading EMS provider; Managing Director and Founder of Majital Solutions, a marketing and engineering consulting company; and Vice President of Marketing and Engineering of ACI, an Electronic Manufacturing Company. A mentor and doctoral student advisor, Dr. Tehrani is also author of several textbooks and peer-reviewed medical journal articles.
Shanti Wilson, Advocacy Chair
Shanti Wilson is a consultant at Freed Associates and works primarily with California’s integrated health systems. She is also acting as the HIMSS Northern CA Board of Directors Advocacy Co-Chair and National Chapter Advocacy Roundtable Rep. She is passionate about giving back and advocating for improved health outcomes. She has significant experience in managing health care IT implementations, helping providers achieve meaningful use, implementing shared savings and ACOs, work flow redesign, electronic health records and the use of data to improve clinical quality, population health, and organizational effectiveness.
Prior to her position with Freed Associates, Shanti was the Health IT Director of a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) designated Quality Improvement Organization, where she helped providers implement electronic health records, achieve meaningful use, and optimize their workflows. She also focused on reducing health disparities through analytics and grass roots efforts. In her career, Shanti has worked with state and federal health systems, community clinics, independent physician associations, FQHCs, and rural community physician practices. Shanti holds an MBA in Business Administration from National University and a B.S. in Business from California State University Sacramento.
