HIMSS Experience and Interests
Stevie has been an active member of HIMSS since 2010, and will be heading up the Membership Committee, and co-chairing the Volunteer Committee. Before joining the NorCal HIMSS Board, Stevie was a member of the Southern California Chapter, volunteering on the Communications Committee and logistics teams. Her board interests and goals include growing the Chapter’s Membership and increasing the outreach of health information technology via social media channels. 

Career Highlights
Stevie currently works as a Client Services Executive for Modis Health IT partnering with hospitals and healthcare organizations along the West Coast providing resources within the healthcare IT space. Stevie’s combined educational background and management experience has brought a unique perspective to her clients in their efforts to build high performance teams to achieve the standards for technology adoption and Meaningful use. 

Stevie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Child/Adolescent Psychology as well as her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.

Nancy has over 20 years of Healthcare Information Technology experience, and has worked in the government, not-for-profit, and private Health sectors implementing information technology and developing strategies and plans that align technology with the goals of the business. Nancy has worked extensively with physicians, having lead information technology for several Medical Groups in her career. Currently she is the Chief Information Officer at MedAmerica/CEP America, the third largest Emergency Physician Medical Group in the country. Ms. Hall is an experienced public speaker and facilitator and participates in speaking forums on Information Systems and Strategic Planning, facilitates and leads strategic planning sessions, and is active in advocacy and healthcare policy at the state and national level. Ms. Hall is a member of the College of HealthCare Information Executives and is a Certified Healthcare CIO.

Jim Bloedau, President-Elect, Innovation Committee Chair

Since attending the 1991 national HIMSS conference in San Francisco, Jim has served on national HIT workgroups including: the early days of ANSI Standards and Administrative Simplification that led to HIPAA legislation and most recently HIMSS mHealth Roadmap Task Force, New Care Models and ROI/Payment efforts.  As a chapter board member he chairs the Innovation Committee and designed their record setting Meetup, CPHIMs Scholarship, CPHIMS Certification and Innovation Conference programs and is active with the nomination and education committees.  “I started working in the healthcare setting at an early age and have never lost my passion for it nor my curiosity for how information technology can optimize clinical and patient performance – it’s a great bug to catch!” 

Career Highlights
Strong instincts and insights gained from broad clinical, academic, research and entrepreneurial leadership spanning clinical and consumer health startups, leading innovation medical centers and rural health. Clinical innovation experience includes the first digital online patient monitoring system, numerous digital diagnostic devices, the first IP-based statewide HIE, departmental software implementations and early SAS systems for care and practice management, e-prescribing, physician training and patient education.  Author of over forty-five healthcare IT market briefs and business plans; provided expertise to over seventeen entrepreneurial efforts;  and instrumental in securing funding, strategic relationships, M&A diligence, and leading sales and demand generation teams.  In addition to HIMSS, nonprofit commitments have included board positions for ‘digital divide” nonprofits and others that include Heart, Lung and Cancer associations.  He currently is an invited advisor to UCSF Entrepreneurial Center, Rock Health and Startup Health entrepreneurs.

Dr. Bob has been a member of HIMSS at both the local and national level for over 15 years. He has been active with the Northern California HIMSS Chapter since 2008. Dr. Bob is a Member Liaison for the Northern California HIMSS Chapter.
Career Highlights
Dr. Bob is currently the President of Application and Network Solutions for healthcare. He has twenty years of experience managing large client clinical projects. He developed a detailed quality matrix for John Muir Health, mapping all quality metrics to requiring agency as well as Meaningful Use. He managed the delivery of a Portal based RHIO solution for Geisinger Health Systems. He developed a plan and processes to roll out Epic across the Cleveland Clinic Health System and built a project management team at Kaiser where he managed a team of project managers and developed strategies and plans to support an Epic rollout throughout the enterprise. He spearheaded major six-sigma transformation effort across a 2000 person software development laboratory that resulted in winning the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award. He worked with clinical and business leaders at Cleveland Clinic to expand Epic from the main campus to the nine hospitals and private practices across the greater Cleveland Area. At Kaiser, Cleveland Clinic and Geisinger, he worked closely with and earned the respect of end-users, including physicians and other clinicians, regarding ongoing activities around the HIE and EMRs and provided leadership to guide and influence adherence to the IT organizational goals and objectives. Dr. Bob built the first systems integration team in IBM that evolved into IBM Global Services.

Janet is a new member of local and national HIMSS. She founded the Bay Area Nursing Informatics Association last year. Board interests and goals broadening membership to include nursing and clinical staff, harvesting big data to be used in research, creating technology that supports the caregivers and patients in managing and optimizing patient care.

Career Highlights
Janet has over 20 years of nursing experience at hospitals across the country. She worked as an Epic Beacon Analyst and Trainer for two years before transitioning to the Clinical Informatics Manager for the Pediatric Oncology program at Stanford Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. As an Epic Analyst created pediatric lesson plans for providers, nursing, and pharmacists, orchestrated the conversion of paper orders to electronic, and provided onsite support to end users during multiple go lives. Janet is an experienced public speaker and facilitator presenting this past year on strategy for the use of dose rules in chemotherapy prescribing and standardization and increased safety in prescribing chemotherapy through CPOE.

Jenni Bendfeldt, Member-at-Large, Membership Committee Chair

Jenni has been an active member of the NorCal HIMSS chapter for three years.  In 2014, she served as a reviewer for population health proposals and was a coach and moderator for the presentation titled, “Data-Enabled Strategic Resource Allocation in ACOs” at the 2015 annual conference in addition to volunteering at local events. Jenni currently serves as the co-chair of the membership committee where she strives to encourage membership and involvement through education and professional opportunities.

Career Highlights
Jenni works as a national consultant in ECG’s Healthcare IT practice. With 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, she helps clients address strategic, operational, technical, and vendor management issues associated with the implementation, utilization, and optimization of technology.  Her expertise includes project and IT department management, EHR and clinical quality incentive programs, IT-driven improvements in clinic operations, the revenue cycle, and hospital system alignment.  Prior to joining ECG, Jenni began her career as a Nutritionist at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she served as a clinical champion for several Siemens upgrades.  She then embarked on a healthcare administration internship and working as an EHR analyst at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Jenni regularly posts her insights on her ECG blog

Jenni has a master of healthcare administration degree from the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University and a bachelor of science degree in nutrition science/dietetics, with a minor in psychology, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

My professional experience includes a career in the healthcare profession as a Nurse, and as a Nursing Director leading me to become interested in Healthcare Information Technology. After various positions with multiple Vendors for Healthcare Information Systems in design and development specializing in user interface design and Product Management for Electronic Medical Records, Healthcare Information Systems and Clinical System, I began a career as a Consultant in Healthcare Information Technology. As a Consultant, I work with Healthcare Facilities, Hospitals and IPA’s to assist in vendor evaluation and selection for HIS, EHR and EMR systems. With experience in both system use and design, I consult for change management, strategic planning and implementation processes.

Michelle Heimann, Member-at-Large, Logistics Chair 

Michelle Heimann has been part of the NorCal HIMSS Board for 5 years. She started off as a volunteer, helping out with registration at all of the events. She is now serving her third year as Logistics Chair, and is responsible for event spaces, catering, and registration. Michelle has worked in the Information Technology space, and now is a Healthcare Informatics Specialist after coming from a background in teaching. Michelle has a BA in Liberal Studies and a Masters in Education.

After being involved as a member with HIMSS for a couple of years and attending the national conferences, Jason joined the Board of Directors as a volunteer in 2015. Now, as Programs Chair, his drive is to bring even more energy to the already innovative Chapter programs.

Career Highlights
After running his own firm for a few years, Jason gravitated towards healthcare technology and started as a Help Desk Analyst. Through the years, he has served in a variety of specialized areas including Citrix implementations, Help Desk management, software rollouts, data center migrations, network upgrades, and clinic overhauls. He has also partnered with large service vendors on hospital-wide initiatives. 
Most recently, in his role as Manager of Information Security & Customer Experience at Marin General Hospital, Jason is responsible for information security, all hospital communications infrastructure, and user experience projects. On the user experience front, he works directly with inpatient and ambulatory providers to identify opportunities to make technology systems more streamlined and easier to use. Jason's passion is to create an exceptional healing environment in which technology complements patient care.

Jason holds an Associates Degree in Business as well as a CAHIMS certification, CISSP certification, several Microsoft certifications and a BLS certification

Prior to this Mike was a Global InfoSec. & Compliance Executive at Visa, Inc.  Prior to this Mike was an Executive in HP Professional Services Information Security, CIO, CISO Advisory and Enterprise Archtitecture practices. Mike’s team at HP wrote two of the ITIL books. Mike is a member of Board of Directors of the FBI’s InfraGard Cyber Def. initiative and an active member of the joint DARPA, Dept. of Homeland Security/Stanford Research Group Cyber Defense ITTC Initiative. Mike is a board member of the N. Calif. HIMSS Chapter, a member of the American Bar Association & active in the ABA’s, InfoSec. and Healthcare Law Committees, a certified member of the Information Systems Audit & Control Association, a former board member of the International Systems Security Association & a senior member of the SecureWorld CISO Advisory Board. Mike has been a major event InfoSec/Compliance speaker for over 20 years.

Santosh Mohan, Member-at-Large, Patient Engagement Chair

Santosh Mohan is a health care IT industry analyst researching successful processes, management practices, and emerging solutions that enable the role of technology in health system transformation. Most recently, he was a management fellow and consultant in the Office of the CIO at Stanford Health Care. Mr. Mohan currently leads HIMSS' national Innovation committee as its Chairperson. 
Prior to joining Stanford, Mr. Mohan served as a Director and Senior Consultant at The Advisory Board Company, providing strategic advice and operational insights to health system CIOs and executives on a variety of topics including patient engagement, IT performance management, and new IT capabilities for health care reform. Prior to the Advisory Board, he was at Cerner Corporation, building technology and execution into business and clinical strategies to enhance care workflows and improve patient outcomes. Mr. Mohan's other provider-focused consulting engagements focused on ACO strategy and mHealth/digital health.
Santosh earned his master’s degree in business management and clinical informatics from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he received the leadership excellence award and was also named a Fuqua Scholar. He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and bioinformatics from VIT University (India).

Jon Russell, Member-at-Large

Jon RussellJon Russell is a senior vice president at John Muir Health and the associate CIO. He is responsible for Information Technology and Services (ITS).

Bay Area-based John Muir Health is a 3.5 hospital IDN, employing 6,000, while partnering with about 900 affiliated physicians. John Muir Health generated $1.4B in revenue in 2013.

Jon oversees the enterprise-wide IT functions and about 300 team members who make up the ITS division.

In this role, Jon drives the strategic alignment of IT with John Muir Health’s enterprise-wide vision. Among his recent accomplishments, he co-led the fully-integrated implementation of the health system’s EHR and Revenue Cycle system install, bringing to that effort his extensive experience. He now stewards the ongoing maintenance and optimization of the Epic system that supports JMH’s inpatient and ambulatory settings. Under Jon’s direction, JMH has established a clinical and business informatics unit, positioning the health system to use robust data intelligence to deliver superior user support.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2013, Jon served in a similar capacity at Kettering Health in Ohio, where he served for five years.

Dr. Nik Tehrani is a member of HIMSS at both local and national level.  As an active member of Northern California HIMSS Chapter, he serves as the Co-Chair of Education Committee as well as a member of the Innovation and Technology committee.  His interests are developing marketing tools for patient engagement, digital health, and enhancing patient experience.

Dr. Nik Tehrani is Vice President of Business Development of DynoSense Corp., and has over 25 years’ experience in business management, marketing, and supply chain development and implementation.  He has also over 15 years of teaching experience as a lecturer and professor at various prestigious universities in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Prior to DynoSense, he was President and CEO of Savitron, Inc., an Electronic Manufacturing Solution Company; Global Director of Program Management at Sanmina-SCI, a leading EMS provider; Managing Director and Founder of Majital Solutions, a marketing and engineering consulting company; and Vice President of Marketing and Engineering of ACI, an Electronic Manufacturing Company.  A mentor and doctoral student advisor, Dr. Tehrani is also author of several textbooks and peer-reviewed medical journal articles.

Rosanne Wassom, Member-at-Large, Volunteers/Outreach Chair

Career Highlights
Rosanne Wassom, RN, brings over 25 years of IT healthcare experience to the position. As an RN, her passion has always been bringing products to market that enhance well-being and health. In 1989 she broke open the California home-health market with one of the first home-health devices to deliver diagnostic data over a phone modem. During past 25 years Rosanne has at one time or another interfaced with almost every hospital in northern CA.

Rosanne is well connected in Northern California and is passionate about helping providers negotiate their way through healthcare transformation. She was most recently awarded the HFMA Chapter Achievement Award for her work on the Northern CA HFMA board. Rosanne co-chaired the HFMA committee that produced and hosted the very first Women’s Event for women in healthcare, and has chaired the committee since. She is leveraging that experience within Northern California HIMSS, working with a talented group of women who have put together Women in Healthcare IT (WHIT), whose mission is to seed, incubate, and advance women’s career aspirations in Healthcare IT.

Shanti WilsonShanti Wilson is a consultant at Freed Associates and works primarily with California’s integrated health systems. She is also acting as the HIMSS Northern CA Board of Directors Advocacy Co-Chair and National Chapter Advocacy Roundtable Rep. She is passionate about giving back and advocating for improved health outcomes. She has significant experience in managing health care IT implementations, helping providers achieve meaningful use, implementing shared savings and ACOs, work flow redesign, electronic health records and the use of data to improve clinical quality, population health, and organizational effectiveness.

Prior to her position with Freed Associates, Shanti was the Health IT Director of a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) designated Quality Improvement Organization, where she helped providers implement electronic health records, achieve meaningful use, and optimize their workflows. She also focused on reducing health disparities through analytics and grass roots efforts. In her career, Shanti has worked with state and federal health systems, community clinics, independent physician associations, FQHCs, and rural community physician practices. Shanti holds an MBA in Business Administration from National University and a B.S. in Business from California State University Sacramento.

HIMSS Experience and Interests
I am a HIMSS Fellow, and have been active in both local and national HIMSS for many years. As one of the past chapter President’s before unified dues, I contributed to getting a number of colleagues together to revitalize the Northern California chapter, and served as Chapter President for two terms. I’ve held a number of other board positions, and currently am a Board Advisor of both Northern and Southern California. I have also served on several national committees, including Chapters, Scholarships, and routinely assist with peer review for the National Conference. I’ve also served on several education committees at the national and local levels. I have led or co-led many local educational events, and have spearheaded the Annual CIO event since its inception.

I have also been a CIO, and worked in the vendor world, and been in management consulting / systems integration for over thirty years. I have a Masters (in Economics) from UCSB, and have my undergraduate from UCLA.

Jeff has been a member of HIMSS since 1997 and a member of the NorCal Chapter Board for twelve years. He has been an officer of the Corporation for 8 years having served as President twice and Treasurer. He has served on various committees as member and Chairperson and is currently the Chair, Communications Committee. In addition, he has been a reviewer and moderator for the National HIMSS Education Committee for 4 years. He also served as Chair of the National Chapter Leader Task Force in addition to being on the task force for 4 years. Board interests and goals include expanding the educational reach of our programs to include more students implementing a program to connect students seeking internships with vendors and providers offering internships and improving communications internally and externally to engage a more diverse community to the mission and value of HIMSS.

Jeff is a seasoned health care professional with a combined background in clinical laboratory medicine, information technology, healthcare vendor experience and IT Healthcare consulting. He is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by training including clinical and anatomic pathology. Jeff has served as Director of a clinical laboratory, CIO of a community faith-based hospital, Director of Sales and Support for a nationally recognized healthcare software vendor and healthcare consultant with international experience managing numerous IT system selections, implementations, strategy planning, assessments and IT system transformations. Jeff is a Principal with Impact Advisors, a Best in KLAS consulting firm specializing in strategic advisory and implementation services.

Michael has been an active member of HIMSS since 2000 and a Northern California Chapter board member since 2004. Michael Kirby is a Managing Director in KPMG LLP’s Management Consulting practice focused on performance improvement and technology transformation services. He has over eighteen years of healthcare experience delivering information technology solutions to academic hospitals, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), community hospitals and physician group practices. Mr. Kirby’s global experience includes former employment with an HCIS vendor and has held the roles of Senior Manager, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for several industry leading healthcare management consulting firms.

Michael holds both his bachelor and master’s degree in Business Management from Husson University in Bangor, Maine.

Mori is a HIMSS Fellow and Life Member based on his long and active participation in Northern California Chapter activities since its start in Management Engineering. He now serves as a Board Advisory member. He previously served on the Chapter Board and as Membership Chair for many years. As a past Northern California Chapter of HFMA Board Member and Systems Chair, he is also serving as the liaison to HFMA to encourage collaboration in providing HIT education to both local HFMA and HIMSS members.

Career Highlights
Mori is currently the Director of Client Services at Intermedix, one of the leading providers of emergency medical services revenue cycle management, and emergency preparedness and response technologies. He is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) and Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC). Prior to Intermedix, he served as the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of Certus, a provider of healthcare revenue cycle and government reimbursement consulting services. He acquired his strong background in client services, project management, revenue cycle and information technology while working in senior positions as a revenue cycle, operations management and information systems consultant at CPFC, HBOC, Mediflex Systems, and Medicus Systems. Mori has also spoken at regional and national HFMA, AAHAM, CHIA and CHAM conferences; and has several published articles.

Harvey is a founding member of the Northern California chapter of HIMSS and is active with the national HIMSS organization serving on the annual conference selection committee, as an annual conference presenter, reviewer, presentation coach and moderator. A multi-year member of the chapter’s Board of Directors, Harvey has served several terms as the chapter's Vice President, Treasurer and advisor.

Harvey's career in Healthcare IT has been punctuated with achievements that have "made a difference". He has worked with several notable organizations including El Camino Hospital, Kaiser Permanente and UCSF Medical Center.
Harvey has earned CPHIMS certification and Lifetime Fellow recognition (LFHIMSS) from HIMSS.

Daryl has been a member of HIMSS at both the local and national level for over 20 years. He has served on the NoCal HIMSS Chapter Board since 2009. Daryl is the President-elect for the NoCal HIMSS Chapter.

Career Highlights
Daryl is a Partner in the Health & Public Services Operating Group of Accenture. Prior Accenture, he was Senior Vice President for Operations at Allocade and former President of Diablo Advisors. He has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare and information technology industry, having served as a senior executive in both large and small healthcare technology and equipment businesses including Philips Medical Systems, HBOC/McKesson, Eclipsys and HealthVISION. His clients have included academic medical centers, multi-facility & multi-regional Integrated Delivery Networks and numerous organizations specializing in Pediatric Care and Oncology Treatment and Research. He has extensive experience leading healthcare IT teams and working with healthcare delivery organizations in the USA, Canada, Europe, United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Daryl has been awarded Fellow status with HIMSS.

Samir is a new member of local and national HIMSS.  He has been part of the technology expert panel for the last two HIMSS NorCal Patient Engagement Summits.  His board interest and goals will include Co-Chairing the Membership Committee and focus on membership growth thru attracting healthcare technology companies to participate and he will so bring his expertise to Co-Chair the Annual Patient Engagement Summit

Samir has worked with over 500 healthcare organizations and countless patients, which has given him an invaluable perspective of the quality of care available in modern medicine today. Improving the patient experience, while enticing patients to engage in their care, has been central in his efforts.  With over 15 years experience in healthcare, currently, Samir Batra is the Vice President of Patient Engagement, where he presents strategy and effective use of the Oneview solution, to allow global healthcare providers and their patients to make better decisions. Over the past 10 years, Samir has worked with healthcare technology companies with the singular focus of applying technology to effective clinical and patient processes to forward the patient experience and drive engagement. Prior to that he was focused in the field of healthcare consulting assisting providers with all aspects of operational efficiency and strategic planning and execution.  Samir is an active speaker on utilizing technology to improve patient care, a Planetree advocate and frequent presenter; he is also involved with the Beryl Institute Advisory Board and sits on the Resource Advisory Council.  He has had the pleasure to speak at some of the leading forums such as: The Beryl Institute Patient Experience Conference, HIMSS NorCal Patient Engagement Summit, Cleveland Clinic Patient Experience Summit, NY eHealth Digital, and AHA.  His previous stops have included leadership roles at: CareInSync (acquired by Hearst Health), GetWellNetwork, and The Advisory Board Company.

Sherri serves on the Board of Directors for HIMSS Northern California and serves on the Innovation committee as Co-Chair for the Innovation conference and contributes regularly to the newsletter. Sherri appreciates the opportunities through HIMSS to learn from other members while being able to foster the acceleration of our members' literacy in mobile, analytics, and cloud to empower them to align technology plans with evolving healthcare business models.

Career Highlights

Sherri is CEO for Medigram, a company whose mission is to improve patient care through more efficient communication. Medigram provides a mobile-first platform providing secure group messaging, image sharing, and a workflow solution for healthcare teams available on iOS, Android, and the web.  The company's focus is to support health systems' care improvement and quality goals with our mobile-first software which integrates with existing systems to support clinicians' workflow. The Medigram platform is based on our proprietary NoSQL non-relational database designed to facilitate analytics and IoT communication with remote patient monitoring devices.  The Medigram platform also provides on premise, private data lake, and public cloud storage options to support modern data strategies with strict healthcare security requirements.  Prior to working at Medigram, Sherri owned a healthcare technology consulting practice and had worked in investment banking. Previously, she was a Senior Sales Executive at Johnson & Johnson with over nine years of experience in more than a dozen disease states; there she won numerous awards, trained others, and participated in the management development program. Sherri is an advisory board member for the National Bundled Payment Collaborative and a member of Santa Clara University’s Board of Fellows.  She earned her BS degree in Combined Sciences from Santa Clara University and has held series 7 and series 66 investment-banking licenses.  Sherri recharges while exercising, reading, writing, coding, and by spending time with her husband and their friends cooking, hiking, skiing, and learning together.

Lauren Mock

Lauren is a senior at the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Public Health and minoring in Public Policy. In the College of Engineering, she serves as Course Developer and Head TA/Project Manager for an innovative, NSF-supported, undergraduate computer science education program. She is Co-President of the campus chapter of the American Medical Student Association, and leads a class while serving as Editor-in-Chief of the undergraduate medical journal.
Lauren interned with Kaiser Permanente where she supported research in strategic applications of innovative health information, wearable and mobile technologies. She also interned at Sutter Heath supporting lean medicine research and collaborated in authoring published research. Previously, Lauren volunteered at the Stanford University Medical Center and at El Camino Hospital where she served on the Junior Advisory Board. She was a participant with the HIMSS Government Relations team in the Institute for e-Health Policy externship program in Arlington, Virginia.
