Spring 2017 ♦ Message from the President

Hello everyone and happy new year! I hope that 2017 has gotten off to a great start for all of our Northern California HIMSS Chapter Members. I can say that our Board is back at it, and hard at work for the second half of our fiscal year. We started 2017 on a positive note with our fifth annual Innovation Conference and Showcase at the Intel Auditorium on January 12 that brought over 200 attendees. Our talented event committee brought together the leading innovation physicians and national clinical HIT innovation experts from around the country who offered their forward leaning perspectives. The feedback has been incredibly positive, and was a fantastic follow-up to our CxO event last November.

We have an incredible lineup of events still to come this fiscal year, which includes our ePatient Summit on April 4, State HIT Day on May 3, and our first annual Women in Health IT event on May 19. Our committees are tirelessly working to bring to you the best possible programs, and part of being able to do that lies within our Sponsorship. I’d like to take a moment to thank our Annual Sponsors for their committed contributions to our chapter, because without them, we would not be able to continue to take our events to the next level. We do have opportunities for event sponsors for the three events listed above. If you are interested in supporting one or all the events we have left this year, please send an email inquiry to our sponsorship committee at norcal.sponsor@himsschapter.org. The details and locations for these events can be found on our website.

Around this time each year, our Board starts planning for the upcoming fiscal year which starts July 1. In that process, we establish a committee to elect new board members and new officers. We will have several opportunities on our Northern California Board, and we ask our membership base to assist us with not only nominating, but also electing the new board. Be on the lookout for email updates with additional information. We want to hear from as many of you as possible, especially those interested in contributing on the Board for the upcoming FY18. Joining a committee is the first step, and we have plenty of opportunities available to those interested in volunteering their time.

It is an honor to serve this Chapter as President, and I am so excited about the second half of this fiscal year. I hope to see and meet as many of you as possible at our upcoming events, and welcome any questions, comments and thoughts you may have. Please email me at norcal.president@himsschapter.org.

Best regards,

Stevie Bahu
