Summer 2017 Newsletter - Welcoming the 2017-2018 Executive Committee Chapter Officers

By Stevie Ryan, Past President 2017-2018 and Jim Bloedau, President 2017-2018

Tasked with providing the executive leadership of the Chapter’s Board of Directors, our Executive Committee (EC) is comprised of five officers – President, President-Elect, Past-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

As your next Past-President and incoming President, Stevie and I warmly welcome our new Executive Committee officers. These are highly talented and extremely exceptional people who are no stranger to the Board with up to five years of board experience preceding their election as an officer.

We welcome you all to the EC and your unselfish commitment to contribute to the Chapter’s membership and your fellow Board members and look forward to a highly productive year.

We also are very grateful to the Nominating Committee, chaired by Jason Johnson, for your diligence in recruiting the highest caliber of candidates and your generous contribution of personal time.

Many thanks to all, it will be a great year!

Nick Steinbach, President Elect

(Three consecutive one year terms – President-Elect, President, Past-President, 2017-2020)

When I joined the sponsorship committee in 2012, I was primarily looking for a way to get more involved. I soon learned by my first experience as a Co-Chair of the CxO event that I had found a great organization to donate my time. I was honored to be given the opportunity to be the Sponsorship Chair in 2014. The support and mentoring that I received enabled me to apply my knowledge to improve our program. With the close of my second year as the Chair, I am pleased to have doubled our sponsorship revenue. It has truly been a team effort in creating great programs and delivering meaningful content to our members that enabled us to win Chapter of the Year at HIMSS 2016.”

Kim Snyder, Treasurer

(Two-year term, 2017-2019)

I believe I am qualified for this position due to my former role on the HIMSS Board of Directors as the Education Committee Chair. I also have an accounting degree and 15+ years in accounting and finance in high tech industries. In the past ten years, I have been involved in national Health IT initiatives working toward interoperability of electronic health records and am passionate about the need for electronic health records. In 2000, I founded the Alliance of Technology and Women Arizona Chapter and was successful as President for two years, growing membership to 200+ and providing educational events for women wishing to advance in technology careers.”

Jenni Bendfeldt, Secretary

(One-year term, 2017-2018)

Since joining the chapter in 2014, I have become increasingly involved with the NorCal chapter. I truly believe in our mission and have found my involvement to be incredibly rewarding from an educational, relationship, and industry perspective. My experience serving as the interim Secretary for the 2016-2017 year has given me a solid foundation to further build upon next year. I look forward to introducing innovative approaches to organizing information and communicating effectively with other members of the Board. Furthermore, I have had many conversations with fellow executives regarding our strategy and plans for the upcoming year, and I look forward to helping to make those ideas a reality.”
